RestLess for Apple Watch · Effective 8 October 2026
The short version: RestLess doesn't collect your data. Everything it uses stays on your Apple Watch. Nothing is sent to me or to anyone else.
Health data RestLess reads
With your permission, RestLess reads your heart rate from Apple Health. It uses it only to work out your resting baseline, to tell when you've been still for a while and to tell when you've moved. Heart rate is processed on your Watch and is never sent anywhere.
Health data RestLess writes
To keep heart-rate readings reliable, RestLess starts a workout-style session while you use it. When you stop the session, RestLess discards it, so it isn't saved as a workout. If the app is ever closed unexpectedly mid-session, RestLess removes any workout it left behind the next time you start or stop a session. It only ever removes its own workouts.
While a session is running, your Apple Watch itself counts the time toward your Exercise and Move rings. That activity data is recorded by your Watch, not by RestLess.
What's stored on your Watch
RestLess keeps a small amount of information on your Watch so it can carry on working between launches:
- your settings (rest duration, calibration time, vibration strength and personality style)
- your current resting baseline and the timing state of the current nudge cycle
This never leaves your Watch. Deleting RestLess deletes it.
Notifications
RestLess sends its nudges and congratulations as local notifications created on your Watch. No push notification service or server is involved.
What RestLess doesn't do
- No accounts or sign-in
- No servers, cloud storage or syncing
- No analytics, crash reporting or third-party code
- No advertising and no tracking
- Your data is never sold or shared
In line with Apple's rules, health data from RestLess is never used for advertising, marketing or data mining, and is never given to third parties.
Your control
You can stop RestLess from reading or writing Health data at any time. On your iPhone, open Settings › Privacy & Security › Health › RestLess. You can turn off notifications in the Watch app on your iPhone. Deleting RestLess removes everything it stored.
Children
RestLess isn't aimed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
